Building Wind Finland 2020 together with

Are you ready for THE show?

It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for: it’s the time to reveal our full lineup of speakers for Wind Finland 2024! We’re super excited not only about the great set of presentations we have waiting for you but also because this year we will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of Wind Finland! And that’s not all! On top of that, we’ll be saying farewell to the Finnish Wind Power Association and proudly welcoming the new and glorious Renewables Finland – Suomen uusiutuvat! So many reasons to celebrate and be excited so we wanted to give you a show to remember! So put on your “shopping pants”, as we say in Finnish, and make sure to be there!

And  oh, did we already mention that we have a really good lineup of speakers?

First of all, our host this year is a true pioneer in the Finnish wind energy sector – a wind power guru, one might say. Taamir Fareed, Senior Advisor and the founder of Taaleri Energia will guide us through the seminar day and challenge our speakers with questions together with the audience.

The seminar program is built around four interesting sessions:

Politics

First we’ll have a look at the status of the Finnish wind power scene and the role of the European Union. Our own Anni and Heidi will give a status check on the current situation in Finland as Ville Niinistö, a Member of the European Parliament will talk about EU’s energy policy: what kind of program can we expect from the newly formed European Commission, what is the role of renewables in Europe’s energy security and independence and what’s up with the Green Deal?

Energy system

Here we’ll dive deep into electricity and energy systems. Hannele Holttinen from Aalto University will come to shed light on how will the impact of wind energy on CO2 emission evolve in energy transition. You will also learn how to use opportunities for grid support and make the best out of ancillary services markets as a business case as Tuomas Rauhala from Fingrid and Nikita Semkin from AFRY Management Consulting Oy will come to share their thoughts on stage.

Money Talk

During the past year, people have been asking: is the Finnish onshore wind in complete stop? Unlike one might assume, based on the recent headlines, Finnish onshore wind produced higher electricity prices in 2023 than what was forecasted two to three years before. In this light, should we rather ask: are we getting too greedy? Two years ago, we had Juha Känkänen from Ålandsbanken Funds Ltd. and Johannes Brunila from OX2 on stage to have some serious Money Talk. Years have been windy, and now is the time for a rematch and put on some heat! Let’s see, how they will handle the pressure!

Sustainability

The seminar will be finalized with an intense discussion about sustainability. Here, Jenny-Li Holmström from Taaleri Energia Funds Management will take the lead and make it clear why everyone of you should – and have to – be interested about ESG issues. The players in the market are rapidly improving their game, and beyond the regulatory jungle, three themes raise their heads: CO2 impact, impact on nature, and supply chain management, including respecting human and labor rights. Lia Heasman from Castrén & Snellman will come to navigate us through the regulatory jungle and the seminar will culminate into a thrilling discussion where Jenny-Li challenges the Finnish wind power market’s leading turbine manufacturers’ representatives Andrew B Harwell from Vestas Wind Systems A/S and Sandra Pfeiffer from Nordex SE on how sustainability can be improved in the value chain.

To ensure you get to hear all the speakers, and to taste the unique Wind Finland experience, save the date for Wind Finland 2024 on Oct 1, and purchase your tickets now!
